The Founder
Merle Becker
I built this community because too many important conversations lack the people who know how to lead them well. After over a decade moderating panels at EU institutions, sustainability summits, and democratic governance events across Europe, I know what separates a memorable conversation from a forgettable one — and it starts well before the mic is switched on.
My background spans journalism, academia, and civil society. I studied Political Science and Peace and Conflict Research at Goethe University Frankfurt, and later completed a second Master's in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Technology. I worked as a research associate at Goethe University in the area of Service Learning and diversity in teacher education, and taught as a lecturer at Karlshochschule International University (Ethical Management) and at Hochschule Darmstadt (Diversity and Intercultural Communications).
In 2013, I co-founded academic experience Worldwide — a programme connecting refugee academics with German university students that grew from one campus to chapters in Berlin, Munich, Heidelberg and Cologne, receiving the Frankfurter Bürgerpreis and the national Prize for Democracy and Tolerance. The work was covered by Tagesschau, FAZ and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
